Terms of use
The guides on this site are general information for owners of day spas, med spas and massage businesses, and the estimator's range is rough, not an appraisal. Requesting a valuation does not make you a client or commit you to selling.

General information, not advice
The guides, figures and examples on this site are general information about how spa businesses, including med spas and massage businesses, are bought and sold. They are not legal, tax, accounting or investment advice. The guide to selling a med spa, for example, summarizes California Corporations Code 13401.5 on when registered nurses and physician assistants may own shares in a California medical corporation, and how to sell a spa business explains that in an asset sale, buyer and seller both report the split of the price on IRS Form 8594. Those pages describe what the source says, not how it applies to your spa.
Talk to your own attorney and CPA before acting on anything here. For a med spa, take the medical side, such as who may own the practice and the medical director's role, to healthcare counsel in your state. Take the tax side, such as how the price is split between goodwill and your lasers and devices, to your CPA.
Is the estimator's range an appraisal?
No. The valuation estimator starts from published multiples: BizBuySell's ranges for spas (a category that blends day, beauty and med spas) and for massage businesses sold from 2021 to 2025, and, for a med spa valued on EBITDA, the ranges a sell-side advisor writing on the American Med Spa Association's site reported for med spas that traded in 2025. It then places your business inside that range using your answers. The size of each adjustment, and for some answers its direction, is this site's own judgment; how the estimator works sets out which. It cannot see your lease terms, device contracts, medical director arrangement or books, and a buyer will.
When it can produce one, its result is a rough, indicative range. It is not an appraisal, a formal valuation, a fairness opinion or an offer to buy your business, and no one should rely on it for a lending, tax, legal or purchase decision.
Does requesting a valuation make you a client?
Requesting a valuation or joining the buyer list does not create a client, brokerage, advisory or agency relationship, and does not oblige you to sell, buy or sign anything. Requesting a valuation does not list your business, and details about your spa are not shared with buyers without your permission.
Where do the figures on this site come from?
Market figures on this site come from the published sources cited on the page where they appear. Those sources were last checked on September 29, 2026, and some are surveys, articles or rules from earlier years, such as the 2019 article on the AmSpa site that the med spa guide cites on Texas's corporate practice of medicine policy. Worked examples and estimator results are illustrations calculated from those figures, not data.
Markets change, and sources can be revised or wrong. BizBuySell's average multiple for spas sold in 2021 was 2.42 times SDE; for 2025 it was 2.12. Texas replaced its rule on physician-delegated cosmetic procedures, such as cosmetic injections, with new Medical Board rules effective January 9, 2025. The site may be updated or corrected at any time.
